Just four ingredients: King Arthur Wheat Bread Flour, water, sea salt, and levain. No shortcuts, no additives—just French sourdough the way it's been made for generations.
This is the loaf that started Crescent Bakes—and the reason neighbors keep coming back.
Slow-fermented overnight with natural levain, then baked until the crust crackles and the inside stays soft and tangy.
The long fermentation breaks down gluten, making it easier to digest for those with mild sensitivities (though not suitable for celiac).
Every loaf is baked fresh in Astoria the day you receive it. If you've been looking for a quintessential loaf from a sourdough bakery in NYC, this is it.

This bread is so good. I couldn't wait to buy another one before I even finished the first one.
Truly delicious bread. Worth every penny.
Delicious
just gorgeous.
As someone who enjoys real sourdough bread, that is not only perfectly sour but that also has a nice crunchy crust, juxtaposed by the pillowy soft crumb on the inside, this is my new favorite bread in the area.
I will no longer be buying sourdoughs from local supermarkets, Crescent Bakes is the good stuff. How do I know? You can eat this bread with ANYTHING and it will enhance the dish. I've made grilled cheese with it, beef au jus, lathered it with wild berry jams, eaten it toasted with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip, or just plain butter. The bread is incredibly versatile and if you're thinking about trying it, I really hope you give it a chance.
I found this bakery by accident, when googling sourdough bread near me and now it's the only bread I will be ordering. I got my dad a loaf and he verbatim said "the bread was so good i ate half a loaf without anything on it".
Thanks for existing and making delicious bread!!! Love it :)
